International Firefighters' Day is observed every year on May 4.

The day was established following the death of five firefighters in a wildfire in Australia in 1999.

Additionally, May 4 is also observed as Coal Mining Workers’ Day.

This day is celebrated to honor workers who are engaged in one of the most dangerous professions.
