Every year on May 18, World AIDS Vaccine Day is observed. This day marks the beginning of research efforts towards developing a vaccine for AIDS.



It is celebrated to recognize the contributions of thousands of researchers, scientists and healthcare professionals. Additionally, this day aims to spread awareness among the public about the prevention of AIDS.


Similarly, every year on May 18, International Museum Day is celebrated. This observance was introduced by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The first celebration of this day was initiated in 1977.
