The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for seven districts in Karnataka, including coastal areas, forecasting heavy rainfall until August 2, 2025.
The affected districts Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga are expected to experience intense rainfall, leading to potential disruptions. Coastal regions are particularly vulnerable, with increasing risks of landslides and hill collapses, severely impacting daily life and mobility.
In Chikkamagaluru, frequent landslides have instilled fear among residents, while farmers across the region are grappling with significant crop losses.
Hassan is experiencing persistent drizzle and thundershowers, causing power outages and commuting challenges. Similarly,Shivamogga faces heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning, further disrupting daily activities and causing extensive agricultural damage.
Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of intense monsoon activity.
