A yellow alert has been issued for several districts in coastal Karnataka.!.

While rain has subsided, strong winds persist, and occasional drizzle accompanied by sunny spells has brought some relief to residents.

The coastal regions of Karnataka, including districts like Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Siddapura, and Agumbe, have seen a slight reduction in rainfall intensity after weeks of relentless downpours since early June.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the coastal areas, indicating a temporary lull in the monsoon’s fury.

While rain has subsided, strong winds persist, and occasional drizzle accompanied by sunny spells has brought some relief to residents. In Bengaluru, too, the intensity of rainfall has decreased.

The IMD forecasts normal rainfall for the first week of August along the coast, with the possibility of heavier showers resuming later. Residents are advised to remain cautious while moving about, as the monsoon is far from over.

The rare appearance of sunlight after a month of rain has sparked joy among coastal residents, likened to rain in a desert, prompting many to resume normal activities like visiting the beach. However, the IMD has not provided a clear timeline for when heavy rainfall might resume.
