Actor and newly sworn-in Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Kamal Haasan, has declared that education is the sole weapon capable of breaking the chains of both dictatorship and "Sanatana" principles. His statement reportedly comes in the context of recent remarks by former Maharashtra minister and NCP-SP leader Jitendra Awhad, who attributed caste atrocities to Sanatana Dharma, seeking to highlight distinctions within Hinduism.
Speaking on Sunday at an event organized by his political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), Kamal Haasan emphasized, "Only education can break the shackles of dictatorship. True leaders are those whose work, though often unrecognized, creates a lasting impact. Their aim should be to bring about change, not merely to cling to power."
Kamal Haasan officially entered Parliament for the first time on July 25, taking his oath as a Rajya Sabha member. His entry into national politics marks a significant chapter, promising his support and stance on national-level legislation.
Earlier, the actor had found himself at the center of a controversy during the audio launch of his film 'Thug Life', where he faced public outrage in Karnataka. He later clarified his intentions, asserting he had no malicious intent and underscoring his admiration for the Kannada language and its people.
