North Karnataka districts have been battered by relentless heavy rainfall, causing widespread distress among residents. The deluge has led to significant destruction, with people struggling to survive moment by moment amidst the floods.
Many have lost their homes, temples, and livelihoods, leaving them displaced and directionless. In the last two days, torrential rains have triggered flood-like conditions across several districts, including Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Gadag, and Dharwad, resulting in extensive damage to numerous homes.
Since Tuesday, the unceasing downpour has disrupted normal life across large parts of North Karnataka. Overnight rains have caused significant destruction, with homes in Bagalkot, Belagavi, Gadag, and Dharwad suffering severe damage. In several areas, trees and electric poles have been uprooted.
In Belagavi’s Chandan Hosur, a person was swept away along with their bike while attempting to cross a swollen stream on Tuesday night. In Bagalkot, rivers and streams are overflowing due to the incessant rain, causing widespread damage to agricultural lands. The continuous rainfall has left people grappling with daily hardships.

In Bagalkot, residents are enduring immense suffering due to the unrelenting rains. Landslides, road cracks, and ground subsidence in some areas have made travel perilous, instilling fear among locals. Ballari district has also been hit hard by heavy rainfall, with significant water releases from the Narihalla Dam.
Crops such as maize, cotton, paddy, and jowar in parts of Ballari have been submerged and destroyed. However, some areas have benefited from adequate rainfall.
