Shah Rukh Khan Failed to Bring Life to His Role, Learn from Kamal Haasan, Says Lilliput!

Lilliput emphasized that dwarfs, like anyone else, laugh, think, speak, and live with their own emotions. He accused Shah Rukh of failing to authentically portray this reality.

Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of a dwarf in the Bollywood film Zero had created high expectations but ultimately disappointed audiences. The film flopped at the box office, leading to scrutiny of Shah Rukh’s choice of roles. In this context, MM Farooqui,

popularly known as Lilliput, expressed his dissatisfaction in a podcast interview. He criticized Shah Rukh’s performance,

stating, “Shah Rukh Khan’s role failed to capture the authentic lifestyle or physical nuances of a dwarf. Merely using technology to shorten a character’s height isn’t enough; the acting must breathe life into the role.”

Lilliput compared Shah Rukh’s performance to Kamal Haasan’s portrayal of a dwarf in the South Indian film Appu Raja. He praised Kamal, saying, “Kamal Haasan masterfully adapted his body language, hand movements, facial expressions, and gestures to suit the character, making it feel truly alive.” In contrast, Lilliput felt Shah Rukh’s character in Zero relied heavily on visual effects without depth. “We didn’t see Shah Rukh’s acting; we only saw a character created through technology with no emotional depth,” he remarked.
