Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has made serious allegations of vote rigging in the Lok Sabha elections. In connection with these allegations, the Congress party has organized a massive protest rally at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on August 8, 2025.

The event will see participation from thousands of Congress workers, including Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Due to the protest, traffic disruptions are expected in Bengaluru, and the police have restricted traffic on several roads while suggesting alternative routes.

Rahul Gandhi has alleged large-scale "vote theft" in voter lists, particularly in Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency. He claims that the Congress party, through digitization and detailed scrutiny of voter lists, has uncovered "shocking theft" (vote rigging). The protest aims to present evidence of these allegations to the Election Commission and raise public awareness.

However, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has confirmed that, as per a 2022 Karnataka High Court order, the event will be conducted within legal boundaries without any processions or rallies. Due to the protest, Bengaluru Traffic Police have imposed restrictions on key roads around Freedom Park.

Traffic from Chalukya Circle to Mysore Bank has been prohibited. Commuters in this area can use Chalukya Circle, Raj Bhavan Road, Infantry Road, and Indian Express Road as alternative routes. Similarly, vehicles traveling from Kalidasa Road via Kanakadasa Junction toward Freedom Park can turn right at Kanakadasa Junction and proceed to Sagar Junction.

Traffic congestion is also likely on major roads like M.G. Road and Cubbon Road, as reported by Delhi Herald.According to Congress, the BJP has misused the Election Commission to manipulate votes. During the event, Rahul Gandhi will address the workers and submit a memorandum to the Election Commission.
