On Raksha Bandhan, Delhi, the national capital, experienced heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several parts of the city and causing significant traffic disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Delhi-NCR, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.

Key areas such as Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, Kidwai Nagar, Panchkuiyan Marg, Minto Road, and Mathura Road faced severe traffic challenges due to flooding. The heavy rain disrupted Raksha Bandhan celebrations, making it difficult for people to travel. Additionally, over 100 flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed. Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo advised passengers to allocate extra time to reach the airport due to potential traffic delays caused by waterlogged roads. The IMD has forecasted continued rain and thunderstorms in Delhi until August 12.
