On Saturday, August 9, 2025, two goods trains derailed near Chandil station in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district. The derailment, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has severely impacted train services on the Chandil-Tatanagar section of the South Eastern Railway.

Initial reports indicate that over 20 wagons of the two goods trains derailed after they collided. While there have been reports of minor injuries to some crew members, no major casualties have been reported.
