Heavy rainfall in Delhi caused a wall to collapse, claiming eight lives. Local residents and the fire brigade swiftly launched a rescue operation, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.

A devastating wall collapse triggered by relentless heavy rainfall claimed the lives of eight people in Delhi’s Jaitpur area. The tragedy struck on Saturday morning following intense overnight downpours that continued unabated. The victims, identified as Shabibul (30), Rabibul (30), Muthu Ali (45), Rubina (25), Dolly (25), Hashibul, Rukhyana (6), and Hasina (7), were scrap dealers residing in tents near an old temple in the vicinity.

The incident occurred around 9 AM when a wall gave way under the pressure of the torrential rains, trapping people beneath the debris. Fire brigade personnel, alongside local residents, promptly initiated a rescue operation. Despite efforts to save the victims, all eight succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to nearby hospitals.

Police official Aishwarya Sharma confirmed that residents from the affected area have been relocated to safer locations to prevent further tragedies. The incident highlights the dangers posed by urban flooding and structural vulnerabilities during extreme weather events in the national capital. Authorities are now assessing the area to ensure safety and prevent future incidents.
