During a press conference in Nagpur, Pawar stated, "Imposing a 50% duty on Indian goods is a pressure tactic. We must stand with the government to protect our national interests."

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday called for national unity against what he termed the "pressure tactics" of U.S. President Donald Trump, while also urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on improving relations with neighboring countries.

Pawar remarked on Trump's well-known style, saying, "We all know how Trump operated during his first term. He cannot be controlled by anyone. He says what he feels directly, without caring what others think."

While supporting the government on the trade front, Pawar called for a review of India's foreign policy towards its neighbors. "We must not neglect our policy towards our neighboring countries," he said. "Today, even though Pakistan is against us, countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives are not happy with us."

Pawar concluded by emphasizing that protecting the nation's security and interests is the foremost duty in the current geopolitical climate, and that the government and the people must work together.
