Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line, spanning 19.15 km from R.V. Road to Bommasandra, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Commercial operations commenced on Monday, August 11, 2025, with the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) rolling out 12 feeder bus services to support metro commuters.

These feeder buses aim to provide seamless first- and last-mile connectivity, particularly for key IT and industrial hubs like Electronics City, Bommasandra, and Konappana Agrahara. BMTC has introduced four feeder bus routes—MF-22, MF-22A, MF-22B, and MF-22C—to connect metro stations with surrounding areas. The MF-22 route links Electronics City Wipro Gate to Doddakannalli Bus Stand via Konappana Agrahara, Hosaroad, Kasavanahalli, and Kaikondrahalli, with four buses operating 32 trips daily from 8:20 AM to 4:55 PM.

The MF-22A route connects Konappana Agrahara to Electronics City via Huskur Gate, Chintala Madivala, Muttanalluru Cross, Thimmasandra Cross, and Chandapura Cross, with four buses running 20 trips from 8:40 AM to 4:50 PM. The MF-22B route covers Bommasandra to Electronics City Wipro Gate via Thirupalya Cross, S-Mando-3, and Hebbagodi, with two buses operating 20 trips.

The MF-22C route links Konappana Agrahara to Electronics City Wipro Gate via S-Mando-3, Thirupalya Cross, Bommasandra, and Hebbagodi, with two buses running 20 trips from 8:25 AM to 6:05 PM. These feeder buses are designed to reduce traffic congestion at choke points like Silk Board and provide efficient transport for employees in Bengaluru’s IT corridor.

BMTC’s Managing Director, Ramachandran R., stated that additional buses will be deployed based on passenger demand. The Yellow Line, with 16 elevated stations, connects major hubs like R.V. Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board, and Electronics City, expecting to serve up to 800,000 commuters daily. Metro fares range from ₹10 to ₹60, ensuring to enhance the commuting experience, BMRCL is collaborating with BMTC, Namma Yatri, and EV operators like Honda and Sun Mobility to introduce e-bike services and EV charging stations at metro stops.

Improved footpaths and auto stands are also in development. Commuters can access real-time bus schedules and routes via BMTC’s website or mobile apps. This integrated public transport initiative strengthens Bengaluru’s mobility infrastructure, reduces reliance on private vehicles, and promotes sustainable urban transit.
