Pune, August 12, 2025: Pune Police arrested six individuals, including a local BJP worker, on charges of engaging in gambling activities, officials reported on Tuesday. According to police, a raid was conducted on Monday afternoon in a tin-roofed room in the Dhanakawadi area of Pune, where several individuals were found playing card games and gambling.
The arrested individuals, identified as Adumbar Kamble, Rohan Londhe, Bapu Patole, Sagar Adagle, Yuvaraj Suryawanshi, Mangesh Shelar, and Sangram Bhosale, were allegedly involved in gambling with cash. During the raid, police seized ₹2.20 lakh in cash and mobile phones, an officer confirmed.All seven accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act.
Speaking to PTI, Dheeraj Ghate, president of the BJP Pune unit, said, “Kamble was recently appointed as the secretary of the Parvati unit in Pune. Following this incident, local unit leaders have expelled him.” Ghate emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable, adding, “At every meeting, we caution our workers and office-bearers to uphold party discipline and avoid any actions that could tarnish their reputation or that of the party.”
