According to reports, the school in Alakere village decided to provide eggs to students as part of the government’s mid-day meal program. However, due to religious restrictions associated with the nearby Veerabhadraswamy temple, local residents and parents strongly opposed this decision. The community stated that the consumption of non-vegetarian food, including eggs, is prohibited around the temple, and this rule should extend to the school. As a result, out of 124 students, parents of over 70 children withdrew them from the Alakere school and enrolled them in the government school in nearby Keelara village and other institutions.
