Jammu and Kashmir: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the devastating cloudburst that struck the Chassoti area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on August 14, 2025. The disaster claimed at least 60 lives, with over 100 people injured.


Rescue operations have saved 167 individuals, of whom 38 are in critical condition. The cloudburst occurred along the Machail Mata Yatra route, and several people are still missing, possibly trapped under debris.Abdullah discussed the situation in Kishtwar with Modi and outlined the measures being taken by the administration. He expressed gratitude for the support provided by the central government.
