Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has warned of issuing a notice to Channagiri MLA Basavaraju V. Shivaganga. Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has warned of issuing a notice to Channagiri MLA Basavaraju V. Shivaganga. This statement has sparked intense discussions in the state’s political circles and is being considered a breach of Congress party discipline. DK Shivakumar, condemning the statement, said, "Despite several warnings, Shivaganga has continued to speak about the Chief Minister’s position. This is a violation of party discipline, and a notice will be issued to him." He clarified that MLAs had previously been strictly instructed to stay within the party framework and avoid making statements that create confusion. Shivaganga’s remarks have further intensified internal disputes within the Congress. Following the 2023 Assembly elections, there was fierce competition between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah for the Chief Minister’s post, after which Shivakumar was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. Shivaganga’s statement has added another dimension to these speculations. Shivaganga Basavaraju is known as a close aide of DK Shivakumar. Recently, in December 2024, Shivaganga wrote to Shivakumar requesting the replacement of Davanagere district in-charge minister SS Mallikarjun, alleging that Mallikarjun had a political understanding with the BJP. He claimed that this was affecting the unity and organizational strength of the Congress party.
