Under the Indira Canteen scheme, which provides free meals, the government had last year assured improvements in food quality and variety. However, the menu remains unchanged, prompting calls for adjustments to suit public health and preferences. In particular, there is a public appeal to prioritize local food items by adding ragi mudde and chapati.
People visiting canteens in Bengaluru and other parts of the state have expressed frustration, noting that the current menu (rice-sambar and chutney) offers limited options. One customer said, "Including nutritious ragi mudde would benefit health and is a familiar food for rural people." Similarly, another individual has urged for the inclusion of chapati to diversify the food offerings. No formal response has been issued by the government on this matter so far. However, the demand has gained traction on social media, trending under the hashtag #IndiraCanteenMenuChange, with people sharing their views. While some have criticized the government for not honoring its promise, others doubt the feasibility of such changes.read also: Trump-Putin Meeting: Prospects of Tariff Reduction on India..!
Experts suggest that adding ragi mudde and chapati would enhance nutritional value and provide a market for local farmers’ produce. However, there is also an opinion that the government may be concerned about the required infrastructure and financial implications of such a change. With growing public demand for a menu change at Indira Canteens, there are calls for the government to seriously consider this request. Introducing ragi mudde and chapati could bring variety to the food offerings and benefit public health and social welfare. However, the government’s decision on this matter will only become clear in the future. NOBERO Men's Cotton Solid Regular Fit Polo Shirt
