The overnight demolition of Dr. Vishnuvardhan's memorial at Abhiman Studio in Bengaluru has sparked a major controversy, leading to a confrontation between the late actor's fans and his son-in-law, Aniruddha.
Hundreds of enraged fans gathered at the studio, protesting in heavy rain against the demolition. The structure, which was the site of the legendary actor's cremation in 2009, was razed overnight under police protection, reportedly following a court order related to a land dispute.
The situation escalated when Aniruddha arrived at the protest site. Fans aggressively questioned him, demanding to know what he had done to save the tomb. When he initially attempted to leave without answering, their anger intensified, with shouts of "How can you leave without answering our questions?" The tension grew further when some fans alleged that only actor Yash had stood up for Vishnuvardhan.
This incident highlights the deep emotional attachment of fans to the site, which they consider sacred. While an official memorial for the actor has been built in Mysuru, fans have long demanded that the Bengaluru site be preserved due to its historical significance. The demolition has been widely condemned by various members of the Kannada film fraternity, including actor Sudeep, who described it as a "cowardly act."
