Purpose of the Meeting:The primary agenda was to discuss and finalize the NDA’s candidate for the Vice Presidential election. Following Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation on July 21, 2025, due to health reasons, the Election Commission announced the Vice Presidential election for September 9, 2025.

New Delhi, August 17, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Delhi on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to attend a parliamentary board meeting to finalize the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election. The meeting was held at the BJP headquarters, attended by party president J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other key parliamentary board members.

On August 6, 2025, NDA leaders authorized PM Modi and BJP president J.P. Nadda to finalize the candidate.

Thawarchand Gehlot, Arif Mohammad Khan, and V.K. Saxena.

He is currently the Governor of Kerala (since 2019).

🧑‍⚖️ V.K. Saxena:

He is currently the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi (since 2022).

Formerly, he served as the Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission.
