Addressing undergraduates, postgraduates, and doctoral scholars, Pradhan highlighted the essential role of self-reliance, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s Independence Day call. He encouraged the youth—"Yuva Shakti"—to channel their innovative ideas and perseverance toward building a ‘Samridhh Bharat by 2047’.
Key Highlights: Call for Innovation: Pradhan encouraged students to develop cutting-edge solutions in fields like healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable urban development using artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies, which would strengthen India’s economic self-reliance and global competitiveness.
IIT Delhi’s Role: IIT Delhi has been designated as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for AI in healthcare, collaborating with AIIMS. This CoE aims to revolutionize healthcare delivery.
Viksit Bharat Vision: Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, Pradhan described these CoEs as “temples” for global public good.
Funding and Oversight: The government has approved ₹990 crore for establishing three AI CoEs from 2023-24 to 2027-28. The initiative will be overseen by an industry-focused apex committee co-chaired by Zoho Corporation’s founder and CEO, Sridhar Vembu.
Support for Startups: These CoEs are expected to boost India’s startup ecosystem, create jobs, and set new benchmarks for global public good, as expressed by Pradhan.
During his address, he engaged with students about their research interests, aspirations, and technological challenges, offering government support for their innovative endeavors. He reaffirmed that the government stands firmly behind India’s innovators in shaping a brighter and self-reliant future. He also announced his intention to revisit IIT Delhi to review ongoing student-led innovations.
