Bengaluru: Jungle or B-Kharab land cannot be granted to anyone, and investigations are underway regarding past instances where such grants were made, stated Minister Krishna Byre Gowda. Responding to a question from Shivamogga Rural MLA Sharada Poorya Naik during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, August 18, 2025, the minister elaborated on the issue.

The minister said, “In the past, mistakes were made in granting Jungle or B-Kharab land due to lack of proper oversight by the government at the time. We are now working to rectify these errors. I have directed that the probe be completed swiftly.”Addressing concerns about stopping land transactions or declaring such lands as fallow (poda), the minister noted that the Commissioner has issued written instructions. Since these lands have already been granted, the government cannot legally revoke the rights of the grantees, as per legal advice received.The minister further revealed that in one case, 119 acres were granted to a single family, and in another instance, Jungle Kharab land was allocated. Instructions have been given to expedite the investigation. Additionally, we have sought advice from the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department on what can be done until the probe concludes,” he added.
