In recent days, heavy rainfall in Karnataka, particularly in districts like Bengaluru, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi, has led to severe flooding of roads, posing significant challenges for food delivery services. In urban areas like Bengaluru, traffic jams and waterlogged streets have made it difficult for delivery personnel to deliver food on time. In some areas, road connectivity has come to a complete standstill, leaving delivery vehicles stranded.
According to the weather department's forecast, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in several districts of the state until August 19, potentially worsening the situation. In regions like Kodagu, agricultural lands have been inundated, and power outages and disrupted road connectivity have severely impacted daily life. This has also affected the food delivery supply chain, as the transportation of raw materials faces significant delays.
Both customers and delivery personnel have expressed concerns over the situation. Customers are frustrated with delayed deliveries, while delivery workers have raised safety concerns about navigating flooded roads. Some food delivery platforms have temporarily suspended services in certain areas or extended delivery times. Customers have been advised to remain patient and follow local weather warnings, while delivery personnel are urged to choose safer routes and take necessary precautions.
