Bengaluru: In a significant development in the city's ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, Bengaluru police have arrested a foreign national who acted in the Kannada film Bheema for his involvement in drug peddling. The individual, identified as Joel Kabang, was reportedly playing the role of a drug peddler in the movie, a role he appears to have been performing in real life as well.
Acting on a tip-off, the Electronic City Police arrested Joel Kabang, a Congolese national. During the raid, police seized 2.15 kilograms of MDMA, a synthetic drug, with an estimated street value of ₹5 crore. It was during the subsequent investigation that authorities discovered he had acted in the Kannada movie directed by and starring Duniya Vijay.
Police have also arrested his associate, identified as Joy Sunday, and are conducting further searches to dismantle the drug network. The arrest highlights the growing concern over drug peddlers operating in the city under the guise of ordinary citizens, with some even having connections to the entertainment industry.
