Centre Grants 'Z' Category VIP Security to Delhi CM Rekha Gupta..!

The security is managed by the VIP Security Group (VSG) under the directives of the Union Home Ministry, which also provides protection to Home Minister Amit Shah and the Congress Gandhi family.

The Central Government has provided 'Z' category VIP security to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta following a recent attack. This security arrangement includes a team of 22-25 armed Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos, who will provide 24/7 protection at the Chief Minister’s official residence and camp office on Raj Niwas Marg. The security is managed by the VIP Security Group (VSG) under the directives of the Union Home Ministry, which also provides protection to Home Minister Amit Shah and the Congress Gandhi family.

The attack occurred on Wednesday morning during a 'Jan Sunwai' program at the camp office in Civil Lines, which Gupta’s office has described as a "planned act." The accused, Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakariya (41), has been arrested by Delhi Police and remanded to five days of police custody. The 'Z' category security provided to Rekha Gupta is a high-level protection measure in India, comprising CRPF commandos, Personal Security Officers (PSOs), and static armed guards, totaling around 22-25 personnel. This setup includes controlling access to Gupta’s residence, deploying security gadgets, and providing close proximity protection in public spaces.

The accused has been charged under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempt to murder, and Delhi Police are investigating the case from all angles. Preliminary investigations suggest the accused may have acted out of his love for dogs, as he was reportedly upset over a recent Supreme Court order regarding dogs.Following this incident, discussions are underway to further strengthen Gupta’s security, with some reports indicating the possibility of upgrading it to 'Z+' category, which would involve additional personnel and vehicles.
