Sudhakar, along with his associates Nagesh and Manjunath, cheated him of ₹25 lakh by promising a government job. The incident occurred on August 7, 2025, within the premises of the district administration building, where Babu was found hanging from a tamarind tree.
However, a shocking twist has emerged in the case. It is now alleged that Babu himself defrauded his childhood friend Natesh of ₹18 lakh by promising a government job, raising questions about the credibility of his death note. This incident has sparked a political controversy between Congress and BJP, with Congress leaders demanding Sudhakar’s resignation, while BJP has dismissed the allegations. Dr. K. Sudhakar has denied knowing Babu and rejected the accusations against him.

An FIR has been filed against Sudhakar, Nagesh, and Manjunath under BNS sections 108, 352, 351(2), (3)(5), and provisions of the SC/ST Act.
