Udupi: In a heartbreaking incident, well-known cinematographer and video editor D.J. Mervin, aged 35, lost his life in a tragic road accident near Muloor, along the Udupi–Mangaluru Highway.

The accident occurred around 3 AM on August 23, 2025, when Mervin and his friends were returning home. They were traveling with video editor Prajwal Suvarna, and friends Prasad and Vignesh. According to reports, the driver swerved to avoid a stray dog, causing the car to overturn.

Mervin sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Adarsh Hospital in Udupi, where he succumbed to his injuries. Just a day before the accident, Mervin had released a new song video on APD Music’s YouTube channel, which he had both filmed and produced. The video is now being widely shared and mourned by fans. Mervin was a rising talent in the Konkani and Tulu film industry, and his sudden death has left the regional film and music community in shock.
