India Celebrates Second 'National Space Day' in Delhi to Commemorate Chandrayaan-3 Success

The successful landing of the Vikram lander and the subsequent deployment of the Pragyan rover on the lunar surface, a site named 'Shiv Shakti Point', was a moment of immense national pride.

New Delhi: India today celebrated its second National Space Day with a grand event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The day, which commemorates the historic landing of the Chandrayaan-3 Vikram lander on the Moon's surface on August 23, 2023, was marked by several significant events. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla inaugurated the Aryabhata Gallery at the Nehru Planetarium, kicking off the day's celebrations.

The celebration was attended by prominent figures, including Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh and ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan. The theme for this year's event, "From Aryabhata to Gaganyaan: From Ancient Knowledge to Infinite Possibilities," highlighted India's long journey in space exploration, from its rich astronomical heritage to its modern space missions.

Addressing the gathering, astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla stated that the entire world is now looking at India's space program. He emphasized that this is a golden age for the country, as global space agencies are showing great interest in India's progress.

Prime Minister's Message: India to Build its Own Space Station

On this significant occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a key announcement. He stated that India is rapidly advancing in technologies like semi-cryogenic engines and electric propulsion. He expressed confidence that with the hard work of scientists, India will soon reach new heights with the Gaganyaan mission and will build its own space station in the coming days.
