The sudden surge in the number of cases involving crimes against women in Karnataka is a matter of grave concern. The state has witnessed a significant increase in cases of sexual harassment, rape, and other forms of violence against women from last year to this year, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report. The state has seen a notable rise in rape cases.

Bengaluru: The sudden surge in the number of cases involving crimes against women in Karnataka is a matter of grave concern. The state has witnessed a significant increase in cases of sexual harassment, rape, and other forms of violence against women from last year to this year, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report. The state has seen a notable rise in rape cases. Over the past two and a half years, 1,888 rape cases have been registered, with 2,143 accused individuals arrested. Shockingly, the conviction rate remains at zero, further fueling public anxiety and raising questions about the effectiveness of the justice system.According to data from the Home Department, in 2023, 767 accused were arrested in 600 rape cases, in 2024, 969 accused were arrested in 739 cases, and by the end of July 2025, 407 accused were arrested in 549 cases.read also: Gold Prices in India Surge Significantly: Potential Decline in Investment Interest! In total, 2,143 accused have been arrested across the 1,888 registered cases, with 83 cases resulting in the release of the accused. The remaining cases are still under trial.On average, three rape cases are reported daily in the state, creating an atmosphere of fear among women in today’s world. Expressing concern over this issue on his X account, former BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal stated, “It is truly alarming that Bengaluru has secured the No. 1 position in rape cases. As I have said before, those who assault or sexually harass women should face strict ‘police hospitality.’ The police must teach such culprits a lesson so that they dare not even think of committing such acts in the future. The Home Minister should stop making casual statements and take decisive action without hesitation.
