China Provides Xi Jinping’s Favorite Car for Modi’s Visit!

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, the Chinese government provided its prestigious “Made in China” Hongqi L5 car. This vehicle, also known as the “Red Flag,” is the preferred choice of Chinese President Xi Jinping for official visits and is a symbol of China’s political and cultural pride.

This vehicle, also known as the “Red Flag,” is the preferred choice of Chinese President Xi Jinping for official visits and is a symbol of China’s political and cultural pride.The Hongqi L5 was introduced in 1958 by China’s state-owned First Automotive Works (FAW) for the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) dignitaries. Analysts note that the provision of this car holds symbolic significance for India-China diplomatic relations.During the SCO Summit, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Xi Jinping. Modi emphasized that maintaining peace and stability along the border is a crucial foundation for India-China relations, like an “insurance policy.” He also expressed optimism about strengthening cooperation for the benefit of the 2.8 billion people of both nations.Xi Jinping remarked, “India and China are nations with ancient civilizations and large populations. This meeting took place against the backdrop of economic pressures due to punitive tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.On this occasion, Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled in Russia’s national “Aurus” car, equipped with a Chinese diplomatic license plate. The Aurus, manufactured by Aurus Motors, is a retro-style luxury vehicle.The provision of the Hongqi L5 is not merely a gesture of courtesy but a diplomatic message aimed at further strengthening India-China relations. Bilateral ties, which saw a sharp decline due to the 2020 border dispute, have shown signs of improvement in recent months.
