Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy stated that while the recent simplification of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) provides some relief to the public, it will result in significant financial losses for the states.

Speaking to the media, he said, "The central government initially imposed a heavy burden on the poor and middle class by introducing GST. Although the current changes may be beneficial to the public, they will negatively impact the states."

He claimed that Karnataka contributes a large amount to the central GST collection but receives very little in return. "We send ₹4.5 lakh crore, but we get very little back. We are already facing a deficit of ₹15,000 crore, which the central government must compensate for. While they collect excess funds from us, they only return 13 paise for every rupee," he said. The minister also speculated that this move might be a strategy to influence the Bihar elections.

No Need for NIA Probe in Dharmasthala Case, Says Reddy

Regarding the demand from some religious leaders to hand over the Dharmasthala case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the minister said the current Special Investigation Team (SIT) is on the right track. "The BJP is demanding an NIA probe, but what happened with the Soujanya case? The CBI investigated it, yet Soujanya never got justice," he questioned. He expressed confidence that the Dharmasthala case will reach a logical conclusion and assured that all temples in the state, including Dharmasthala, are safe.
