During a press conference, BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra questioned the Congress government and the Chief Minister, stating, "You have invited Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate Dasara. Did it not occur to you to also invite another accomplished woman, Deepa Basti?"

The Karnataka government has invited Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the historic Dasara festival, a significant cultural event in the state. This decision has triggered a heated debate, with several Kannada activists and opposition BJP leaders launching sharp criticisms.

During a press conference, BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra questioned the Congress government and the Chief Minister, stating, "You have invited Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate Dasara. Several BJP leaders have accused the Karnataka Congress government of indulging in "appeasement politics" by inviting Banu Mushtaq.
