Role of Muzrai Department:
The Muzrai Department oversees the administration of 34,563 notified Hindu temples and religious institutions in Karnataka. These include prominent institutions such as Tirumala, Mantralaya, Srisailam, Tuljapur, and even the Karnataka Bhavan in Varanasi.
These temples are governed under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, with amendments in 2011 and 2012. The department’s key focus is improving infrastructure and ensuring devotee welfare.
