Mysuru, September 6, 2025: The selection of Bhanu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara 2025 has sparked controversy, with the Hindu Jagarana Vedike organizing a "Chamundi Betta Chalo" program to protest the decision. In response, the Dalit Mahasabha has planned a counter-march, also named "Chamundi Betta Chalo," to oppose the politicization of Goddess Chamundeshwari and attempts to incite communal unrest.
The Dalit Mahasabha, led by President S. Rajesh, has submitted a request to the Police Commissioner for permission to hold this march on September 9, 2025, starting from Kurubarahalli Circle at 7:30 AM. The event, expected to draw around 10,000 participants, will rally under the slogan, “Do not politicize Chamunditayi and do not create communal unrest.”
Previously, when Nisar Ahmad and Hampa Nagaraj from the Jain community were invited to inaugurate Dasara, no objections were raised by the BJP or groups claiming to represent Hindu organizations. However, this time, certain groups are opposing the government’s invitation to Booker Prize winner Bhanu Mushtaq, allegedly attempting to create unrest in the city. The Dalit Mahasabha’s march aims to counter these efforts and promote communal harmony during the iconic festival.
