Thiruvananthapuram, September 07: During the Onam festival, the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (KSBC) set a new record in liquor sales. From August 25 to September 4, BEVCO outlets recorded liquor sales worth ₹826.38 crore, an increase of ₹50 crore compared to last year. In the same period in 2024, sales amounted to ₹776.82 crore, marking a 6.38% rise this year.The highest sales were recorded on Onam day.

On Thursday, liquor worth ₹137.64 crore was sold, a 9.23% increase from ₹126.01 crore on the same day last year. Across the state, 278 BEVCO outlets and 155 self-service counters saw heavy customer footfall. The outlet in Karunagappally, Kollam district, led with sales of ₹1.46 crore in a single day.

Other major sales hubs included Kavanad Ashramam (₹1.24 crore), Kuttipal Edappal (₹1.11 crore), Chalakudy (₹1.07 crore), Irinjalakuda (₹1.03 crore), and Kundara (₹1 crore), all recording sales exceeding ₹1 crore. All BEVCO outlets were closed on Onam day, Friday. Last year’s Onam season saw total sales of ₹842.07 crore. This year’s sales are expected to surpass last year’s figures.
