Darshan's Transfer to Ballari Jail: Court Issues Final Order!

After extensive discussions in the afternoon hearing, the court reached a final decision regarding both Darshan's request for basic facilities (such as a mattress and pillow) and the prison authorities' plea to transfer him to Ballari Central Jail.

Kannada actor Darshan, currently in jail, made a dramatic plea to the court, requesting prison authorities to provide him with poison. He expressed frustration, stating that he was not allowed to leave the prison, could not see sunlight, and was suffering from fungal infections. The judge firmly advised Darshan against making such extreme requests and informed him that appropriate directions would be issued to prison authorities during the afternoon session. The court instructed Darshan to be present for the afternoon hearing, where the matter was taken up for further discussion.

Background Context:

Previously, when Darshan was incarcerated, he was reportedly given VIP treatment at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. A viral photo served as evidence, showing Darshan holding a cigarette in one hand and a coffee mug in the other, relaxing with associates. The Supreme Court, taking note of this, had expressed displeasure over the preferential treatment and ordered his re-arrest after canceling his bail. Against this backdrop, Darshan’s current situation—devoid of any special privileges—appears to be a bitter pill for him to swallow. Consequently, the Karnataka High Court has ordered that he remain in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison instead of being shifted to Ballari, ensuring compliance with legal protocols and prisoner rights.
