A peace meeting was organized this afternoon in Maddur taluk, Mandya district, in connection with the stone-pelting incident that occurred during the Ganeshotsava festival. The meeting, led by District-in-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayan Swamy, was held at a private function hall in Shivapura, reportedly in the absence of the local MLA, with the aim of curbing political conspiracies.
During the talks, held in the presence of leaders from both communities, it was discussed how the incident has caused tension in Maddur. The Minister expressed regret that the situation has escalated, attributing it to a loss of public trust in the government. He noted that the incident is being given a political spin. Speaking at the event, Cheluvarayan Swamy emphasized that peace and harmony are essential for the people.
He called for an immediate and thorough investigation to suppress those spreading false information and to bring out the truth.
Amidst public dissatisfaction with the government for allowing communal tensions to flare, there has been a widespread demand for strict action against those responsible for the incident. The peace meeting was attended by the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and prominent leaders from both communities.
