India and the United States were once close allies. However, tensions arose when India rejected US demands and continued its oil trade with Russia. In response, US President Donald Trump imposed steep tariffs on India. What followed was unexpected, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, undeterred by the tariffs, pursued a bold diplomatic strategy.

Modi strengthened ties with China, a country previously considered a global and domestic rival, while maintaining India's longstanding friendship with Russia. By holding meetings with the leaders of India, Russia, and China, Modi sparked global discussions. His actions drew significant international attention, causing unease among some nations.Fflirtygo Men Graphic Print Cotton T-Shirt & Short Set for Men/Boys

The India-US partnership has indeed been a cornerstone of strategic and economic collaboration, with both nations aiming to deepen ties through trade, technology, and defense cooperation. Recent trade negotiations, however, have faced challenges due to high tariffs imposed by the US, including a 50% tariff on Indian imports, driven partly by disagreements over India’s trade barriers and its continued purchase of Russian oil. Despite these tensions, both sides have expressed optimism about reaching a trade deal. For instance, US President Donald Trump has indicated ongoing negotiations and a desire to resolve trade barriers, expressing confidence in concluding discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has noted that talks are progressing rapidly, with a focus on a mutually beneficial agreement.

The alignment of these three countries may have led the US to reconsider its approach, realizing that India might not need its support as much anymore. Consequently, President Trump expressed readiness for trade talks via his Truth Social account. In response, PM Modi shared his perspective on his X account.

PM Modi's X Post:

India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people.
