The Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru has granted two days of interim bail to Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni from the Dharwad constituency, who is an accused in the 2016 murder case of BJP Zilla Panchayat member Yogeeshgouda Goudar from Hebballi, Dharwad district. The court, presided over by Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat, partially allowed Kulkarni’s bail application on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in connection with his son’s medical emergency.
During the hearing, senior advocate C.V. Nagesh, representing Vinay Kulkarni, submitted that Kulkarni’s son, Hemant, sustained injuries in a road accident, necessitating leg surgery scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025. He requested a 10-day interim bail to allow Kulkarni to be present during the procedure. The court, while acknowledging the humanitarian grounds, granted only two days of interim bail with strict conditions.
