In a historic first, a team of 10 women officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will embark on a circumnavigation of the world. The expedition will be carried out aboard the 50-foot Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Triveni, which was built in Puducherry.
This joint expedition is the first of its kind, bringing together all three branches of the armed forces. The team consists of five Army officers, one Navy officer, and four Air Force officers. The Indian Armed Forces’ joint operation marks a significant milestone in the country's maritime history and stands as a powerful example of "Nari Shakti" (women's power).
The crew has undergone rigorous training for a period of two years to master all necessary skills for the journey, including a Heavy Bridging Training Camp (HBTC) conducted by experienced and skilled instructors.
The team is set to sail over 26,000 nautical miles, crossing the equator twice. The challenging voyage is expected to take nine months to complete, covering all major oceans. This all-women, tri-service circumnavigation voyage is seen as a new source of inspiration on the global stage, aligning with the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat"
