'Mahabharata' to Arrive as a Web Series... Which OTT Platform Will Stream It?

The animated series Kurukshetra, based on the Mahabharata, unfolds the emotional depth and moral complexities of the great war through the perspectives of 18 warriors. Directed by Ujaan Ganguly, this series will be released in two parts, comprising a total of 18 episodes.

Netflix announced a new mythological animated series based on the Mahabharata, titled Kurukshetra, on September 10. Conceived by Anu Sikka, the series is set to premiere on Netflix on October 10.

Netflix has released a motion poster for the series, offering a glimpse of key characters like Lord Krishna, the Pandavas, and others.

Kurukshetra presents the Mahabharata in a unique narrative style, unlike anything seen before. It captures the intense emotional moments and moral complexities of the epic. The series unfolds through the perspectives of 18 key warriors, revealing their inner conflicts, personal grudges, and the devastating consequences of the war between brothers.

Directed by Ujaan Ganguly, the series features lyrics by the renowned poet Gulzar. It has been produced by Alok Jain, Anu Sikka, and Ajit Andhare under the Tipping Point Production banner. Kurukshetra will be released in two parts, with a total of 18 episodes.

Tanya Bami, Head of Series at Netflix India, said, "The Mahabharata has always been more than an epic. It holds a mirror to our choices and dilemmas. Relevant centuries ago, it remains so today. With a new storytelling style, diverse characters, and soul-stirring background music, this series will bring the story we grew up with to today’s generation."

Producer Anu Sikka stated, "The Kurukshetra war is unforgettable and eternally relevant. It’s a conflict of duty, destiny, and moral choices. Through this animated series, the 18 days of Kurukshetra are explored from different perspectives, blending timeless wisdom with the power of visual storytelling."
