Mysuru (Sept. 11): Social activist B.R. Bhaskar Prasad warned that there is no question of abandoning the fight against the injustice in internal reservation allocation. He emphasized that the struggle will continue by uniting nomadic communities. Speaking at a seminar on the intricacies of internal reservations organized by the Social Justice Forum at the Rotary Auditorium on J.L.B. Road, he stated that political maneuvering for power is underway.
A thorough discussion on internal reservation allocation will be conducted, but acts like pelting stones or garlanding with footwear will not be tolerated. He stressed that speaking without understanding the history of the Madiga community is inappropriate. The lack of internal reservations in promotions, backlog vacancies, and political representation is unacceptable. He underscored the need to implement internal reservations economically and politically.
Prasad further cautioned that if the confusion regarding Adi Karnataka, Adi Dravida, and Adi Andhra (AKADA) in the internal reservation for Scheduled Castes is not resolved, and if internal reservations are not provided in promotions and backlog vacancies, a statewide second phase of protests will begin from September 14. Inaugurating the seminar, former minister Kote M. Shivanna clarified that this struggle is not against anyone but for their rightful claims.
