Bengaluru residents are bracing for a significant disruption in water supply, as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a complete halt in Cauvery water supply for 60 hours from 6 AM on September 15 to 6 AM on September 17, 2025. This three-day suspension, affecting all parts of the city, is due to scheduled maintenance at the Cauvery Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4 pumping stations. The BWSSB has urged residents to store sufficient water on the first day to meet essential needs, warning that failure to do so could disrupt daily activities, as water is critical for households, businesses, offices, and industries across Bengaluru.

The city relies heavily on the Cauvery River for its water needs, with water pumped from a reservoir 60 km away at a height of 250 meters, costing approximately ₹3 crore daily in electricity. Despite this, the current supply of 1,100 million liters per day from the four stages of the Cauvery project falls short of the city's demand, which exceeds 1,200 million liters for its 13 million residents.
The upcoming disruption will impact all areas dependent on the Cauvery project, including Bengaluru’s northern, southern, eastern, and western regions. The BWSSB has advised residents to conserve water and use it judiciously to avoid reliance on costly private tankers during this period.Heavy Late-Night Downpour in Bengaluru Causes Massive Tree to Fall, Disrupts Traffic
