Recognize Lingayat Religion Separately: Seers' Demand at the Gathering!

The Lingayat Mathadhipatis' Association has urged that Lingayat religion be recorded separately in the upcoming social and educational survey to be conducted by the State Backward Classes Commission. The seers presented this demand at a gathering held as part of the Basava Culture Campaign in Belagavi.

Over 100 seers, devotees, and prominent leaders of the Lingayat community participated in the Basava Culture Campaign held in Belagavi, emphasizing the need to recognize Lingayat religion as distinct and separate.

The Lingayat Mathadhipatis' Association has urged that Lingayat religion be recorded separately in the upcoming social and educational survey to be conducted by the State Backward Classes Commission. The seers presented this demand at a gathering held as part of the Basava Culture Campaign in Belagavi.

Speaking at the event, Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swamiji of Sanehalli said that while some people are speaking with a promotional mindset to secure recognition for Lingayat religion, we must first address our own shortcomings. He noted that after a major struggle in the past, a temporary darkness had enveloped us, but now we are moving towards the light once again. Criticisms against this campaign are an indicator that we are on the right path, he opined.

Dr. Basavalinga Pattaddevaru of Bhalki stated that it is essential to preserve the Vachana literature given by the Sharanas. Lingayat community members must remain vigilant and record 'Lingayat' in the religion column of the caste census. Through this, we should advance the Basava tradition, ensure Basava Jayanti is celebrated across the country, and establish Basava Peethas in universities of other states, he demanded.

Nishkalamantapa Nijagunananda Swamiji of Bailuru, speaking on the occasion, said that the future of Lingayat religion should be determined through the census. Preserving Basava's philosophy and securing recognition for Lingayat religion is our primary duty. We must proceed independently without falling for conspiracies and tricks, and record 'Lingayat' in the religion column, he called upon the gathering.Handcuffs Backpacks Vegan Leather Casual Backpack Multipurpose Travelling Bags Daypacks For Men And Women

Shri Shivananda Swamiji of Handigund remarked that Basavanna is the religious guru for Karnataka's Viraktamaths. If we do not affirm that Lingayat is our religion, the maths themselves will vanish. We are at a crucial juncture, and taking a wrong step now would be a grave sin. Veerashaiva associated with Lingayat must be removed. Veerashaiva is merely a 'cap'—that's all. Let us prepare for a Chalo Bengaluru and Chalo Delhi for Lingayat religion, he urged.
