Sushila Karki, a former Chief Justice of Nepal, has taken the oath as Prime Minister of the interim government. On Friday evening, she was administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Ram Chandra Poudel at Shital Niwas. Karki becomes Nepal's first female Prime Minister. Under Article 61 of the Constitution, President Poudel appointed her to the position.

India has welcomed the formation of the interim government in Nepal, stating that it will help foster peace and stability.
