Bengaluru (Sep. 13): While the state government dreams of making Bengaluru "drug-free," it turns out that police officers themselves were colluding with drug traffickers to provide them protection. In a stunning expose, 11 personnel from Chamrajpet and JJ Nagar police stations, including inspectors and head constables, have been suspended for their involvement in drug sales. Evidence from the probe revealed photos of police partying with dealers and monthly bribes ranging from ₹1.5-2 lakh. The case unraveled after police arrested Salman (two individuals), Nayaz Ulla, Nayaz Khan (two individuals), and Taher Patel on charges of selling tablets to college students. Over 1,000 Tidal-100 tablets were seized from the accused.
A shocking twist emerged when authorities examined the suspects' mobile phones: constant communication chats with police, audio clips discussing money transactions, and party photos featuring officers and dealers.Taking the matter seriously, the police department formed an inquiry team under Bharat Reddy. The investigation uncovered that officers were receiving payoffs from traffickers. They were even facilitating the sale of low-cost (₹300-400) Tidal tablets. Inspectors and staff were paid monthly shares, and to avoid scrutiny, some routed money into relatives' accounts.
A parallel probe led by SCP Chandan revealed similar misconduct.Suspended Police Personnel and Stations:
Chamrajpet Station (7 personnel): Inspector T. Manjanna, Head Constable Ramesh, Head Constable Shivraj, Staff Madhusudan, Prasanna, Shankar Belagali, Anand.
PURVAJA Women’s Bodycon Midi Dress(Ruby-001-to-008)
JJ Nagar Station (4 personnel): Staff Basavangouda, ASI Kumar, Head Constable Anand, and one more.
This scandal underscores deep-rooted corruption undermining anti-drug efforts in the city.
