Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor's Romantic Comedy 'Abir Gulaal' to Release in India on September 26!

Due to the Pahalgam attack and ensuing India-Pakistan tensions, the release of 'Abir Gulaal' was delayed, but it is now set for September 26, 2025, in India. Marking Fawad Khan's Bollywood comeback, this film is expected to win hearts with its sweet love

The romantic comedy 'Abir Gulaal', starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, was released worldwide on September 12, 2025. Its India release had been postponed, but recent reports confirm it will hit Indian theaters on September 26, 2025.

Why was 'Abir Gulaal' not released in India? This film marks Fawad Khan's Bollywood return. However, following the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack, the movie faced a boycott in India, complicating his comeback.

The incident and India's Operation Sindoor, which created unrest, led to the film's release being halted in India. As a result, despite Vaani Kapoor's involvement and its global premiere on September 12, it did not screen in Indian theaters.

Similarly, Diljit Dosanjh's 'Sardar Ji 3', featuring Pakistani actress Haniya Aamir, was released only overseas due to such tensions. Fawad Khan's banned Bollywood film has been screening abroad only.

The producers have expressed confidence in Indian audiences. According to Bollywood Hungama, "The team from Indian Stories Limited (UK) has now decided to release the film in theaters across India on September 26, two weeks from now."

The report further states, "They are confident about the product and believe that this simple and sweet love story has the potential to connect with audiences everywhere, including India. Moreover, no other film is scheduled for release on September 26, so 'Abir Gulaal' will enjoy a solo release in the country."

The timing appears apt. With the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 cricket match on September 14, the makers may have felt encouraged to finalize the India release.
