According to police, the shooters – Ravindra alias Kallu and Arun – were active members of Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar’s gang, involved in several serious crimes. The gun attack on actress Disha Patani’s family created a nationwide stir, as her father Jagdish Patani, a retired police officer, was the prime target.

A joint STF operation by Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana traced vital clues and tracked down the shooters. Both were on the same bike during the attack and later died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the Ghaziabad encounter. Soon after the incident, the Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility on social media.

The attack occurred around 3:30 am on September 12. Jagdish Patani, who was resting at home, was alerted when the family dogs barked at two strangers on a motorcycle. When he came to the balcony, one of the attackers shouted “Kill him!” and opened fire.

Fortunately, Jagdish Patani took cover behind the balcony pillar and escaped unhurt. The attackers fired multiple rounds, including two aerial shots, which were captured on nearby CCTV cameras. Police confirmed that Jagdish Patani was the clear target. Being a retired police officer and due to the family’s public profile, personal enmity as well as gang pressure may have motivated the attack. Thanks to swift police action, the shooters were tracked and neutralized in record time.
