Pune: A horrific road accident occurred in the Chandan Nagar area of Pune, Maharashtra, on Thursday night around 10:30 PM, claiming the lives of two engineering students, with one other student seriously injured.

The students, all from a local engineering college, were heading to Pune Railway Station. Two of them were planning to travel to their hometown in Latur, Maharashtra. In the incident, one student died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries after being rushed to the hospital. The truck driver, Shyambabu Gautam, fled the scene but was apprehended by locals. A case has been registered against him at the Viman Nagar Police Station under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) along with other relevant sections, and he has been arrested. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. The accident has caused widespread shock and grief among locals.
