Bengaluru, September 18, 2025: The Karnataka High Court is set to hear a petition filed by Panduranga Gouda and Tukaram Gouda, residents of Pangala House in Dharmasthala, urging the court to direct the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to immediately excavate sites they have identified in connection with alleged illegal mass graves in the village.

Court Proceedings-
During a hearing on September 15, 2025, a bench led by Justice M. Nagaprasanna issued notices to the SIT and the Special Public Prosecutor, B.N. Surendranath. The petitioners’ counsel argued that the SIT had not adequately considered their inputs. Due to senior counsel Deepak Khosla’s engagement in another case at the Bombay High Court, advocate Rani requested a postponement. The court adjourned the hearing to 5:30 PM on September 18, 2025.
Government Response:
Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara previously stated that it is impractical for the SIT to submit a time-bound report due to the case’s complexity. The investigation involves cooperation from individuals linked to the Dharmasthala temple, adding to its political sensitivity.
